i’m in love lying in the sand

you watch the prehistoric sun crash into the gulf of mexico

it does not go gently

but claws and scrapes at the horizon

to meet its reflection in your gaze

just one more time

a deep amber glow

colored by your chestnut

it has never seen itself look so good

i feel the same

i am the red balloon that makes you think of what a child has lost

and may one day find again

a simple shape with a string

to pull me down

or let me go
